Straight Punches

You Are in the Right Place If:

• Your punch plate has precision-reamed bores for H7 tolerance fit
• Your die design uses a ball-lock retainer system
• You need maximum punch density (straight shanks require less plate real estate than stepped shanks)
• Your punch diameter is uniform from tip to shank (no step needed)

Consider Shoulder Punches Instead If:

• You need positive retention against high stripping forces (shoulder provides mechanical lock)
• Your punch plate bores are not precision-reamed (press-fit requires tight tolerance bores)
• The punch must be easily removable by hand for frequent replacement
• Your die operates at extreme temperatures where thermal expansion changes interference fit

Press-Fit Tolerance Specifications

Standard straight punch interference fit: H7/m6. Bore tolerance: H7 (+0.000 / +0.015mm for 10mm nominal). Shank tolerance: m6 (+0.009 / +0.025mm for 10mm nominal). Resulting interference: 0.009-0.025mm. Assembly method: press-fit using an arbor press at room temperature. Do not heat the punch plate for insertion - this risks tempering the hardened bore surface.
