Choose Your Urethane Grade & Configuration

Two decisions determine your product: (1) performance grade, then (2) physical configuration.

1
What performance grade do you need?
Heavy Duty (Shore A90)
Maximum load capacity
→ EX, A, E, AX, AZ, AZX, C/LA series
Economy
Standard load, lower cost
→ AE, LAE, CEX series
Low Repulsion (Shore A70)
Gentle force for delicate parts
→ AN, ANX, AZN, AZNX series
Porous Foam
Max deflection (>50%)
→ PA, PLA series
2
What physical configuration?
Through Hole
Guide pin centering, most popular
→ EX, AE, ANX series
Solid
Maximum load-bearing surface
→ A, E, AN series
Counterbore
Self-centering in bore
→ AZ, AZN series
Configurable Length
Non-standard lengths (1mm increments)
→ AX, EL, AEX, AZNX series
Most popular combination: Heavy Duty (Shore A90) + Through Hole (EX Series) — covers 60% of round urethane spring orders. It provides the highest load capacity with guide pin centering for reliable performance.

About Round Urethane Springs

Round urethane springs are the most versatile urethane spring form — they fit standard cylindrical spring bores and serve as direct drop-in replacements for metal die springs. Our 26-product range includes MISUMI heavy duty (EX/A/E/AX/AZ series), economy (AE/LAE/CEX), low repulsion (AN/ANX/AZN/AZNX), and porous foam (PA/PLA) grades, plus Lamina Marshmellow and DANLY Formathane precision-cast lines. Each grade is available in multiple configurations (solid, through-hole, counterbore, configurable length).

Frequently Asked Questions

Heavy Duty (Shore A90): Maximum load capacity and stiffness for heavy blanking and stripping — the standard choice for 80% of stamping die applications. Economy: Similar performance at lower cost — ideal for standard applications without extreme load requirements. Low Repulsion (Shore A70): Softer, gentler progressive force buildup — specifically designed for delicate electronics parts and cosmetic stamping where aggressive stripping force causes part deformation.
Through-hole (most popular, ~60% of orders): allows a guide pin to pass through the center for precise centering in the bore. Solid: maximum load-bearing surface area — best when no guide pin is needed and maximum force per unit area is critical. Counterbore: has a machined recess on one or both ends that self-centers on a boss or pin without a separate through-hole. Configurable: same as above options but with custom length selection in 1mm increments.
Maximum recommended deflection for Shore A90 urethane springs is 25-30% of free height. Exceeding this limit causes permanent set — the spring doesn't fully return to its original height, progressively losing performance. For applications requiring higher deflection, consider porous foam grades (PA/PLA series) which tolerate up to 50%+ deflection.
Yes. Configurable-length series are available in all grades: Heavy Duty (EL, AX, CX, AZX), Economy (AEX, CEX), Low Repulsion (ANX, CNX, AZNX). These allow length selection in 1mm increments within the dimensional range of each series. Standard (non-configurable) series offer fixed length options only.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Heavy Duty, Economy, and Low Repulsion urethane spring series?+
Should I choose a solid, through-hole, or counterbore urethane spring?+
Through-hole (most popular, ~60% of orders): allows a guide pin to pass through the center for precise centering in the bore. Solid: maximum load-bearing surface area — best when no guide pin is needed and maximum force per unit area is critical. Counterbore: has a machined recess on one or both ends that self-centers on a boss or pin without a separate through-hole. Configurable: same as above options but with custom length selection in 1mm increments.
What is the maximum deflection allowed for Shore A90 urethane springs?+
Maximum recommended deflection for Shore A90 urethane springs is 25-30% of free height. Exceeding this limit causes permanent set — the spring doesn't fully return to its original height, progressively losing performance. For applications requiring higher deflection, consider porous foam grades (PA/PLA series) which tolerate up to 50%+ deflection.
Can I order custom-length urethane springs, and which series support it?+
