Do You Need Gas Release on Stepped Pins?

About Gas Release Stepped Pins
Deep stepped features are particularly prone to gas trapping. The diameter transition creates a pocket where air accumulates past the step shoulder — and in blind cavities, this air has nowhere to go.
Gas release one-step pins incorporate venting geometry (flat-sided or SVC channels) into the shaft of a stepped pin. This eliminates trapped-air defects without requiring separate vent inserts or parting line modifications.
Flat-sided venting is usually sufficient for stepped cavities since the step transition itself provides some gas channeling. SVC is recommended for exceptionally deep cavities where the flat-sided capacity is insufficient.
