Taperless Gas Release Configuration
This pin combines three functions: stepped geometry + taperless retention + gas venting. Available standards:
| Variant | Description | Best For | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| JIS Standard | Head T=4 mm, Asian diameter series, cylindrical retention shank | Molds built in Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan | Verify plate pocket matches JIS spec |
| DIN Standard | Head T=5 mm, European diameter series, cylindrical retention shank | Molds built in Germany or to European standards | Not interchangeable with JIS |
Do You Need Taperless + Gas Release Combined?
This is the most specialized core pin variant. Confirm you need all three functions:
✅ You're in the right place if:
- Your cavity has gas trapping AND you need fast pin replacement (straight bore, no taper fitting)
- The mold has many identical pin positions where maintenance downtime cost is critical
- Standard taper gas-release pins cause unacceptable changeover time
🔄 Consider switching to:
- Gas trapping but standard taper is fine? → Straight Gas Release Pins
- Need taperless but no gas issue? → Taperless One-Step Pins
- Stepped cavity gas trapping with standard taper? → Stepped Gas Release Pins
About Gas Release Taperless Pins
This pin addresses a common scenario in high-cavity production molds: stepped cavities that trap gas, installed in plates where taper-reaming dozens of bores is impractical. Three functions are combined into one pin geometry.
The SVC venting channel is machined into the flat side of the pin, simultaneously providing anti-rotation and gas evacuation in a single geometry — no additional features are needed on either the pin or the plate.
Available in both JIS and DIN standard dimensions. Venting performance is comparable to straight gas release pins — the taperless retention method does not affect the gas venting capacity of the channel geometry.
Application Scenarios
See how this product type solves real engineering challenges across different industries and applications:
Deep Cavity Quick-Change Molds
Pain point: Deep cavities in quick-change mold environments face the worst of both problems: gas trapping from depth AND slow pin replacement from tapered designs.
Why it fits: Gas release taperless pins solve both simultaneously — grooves vent trapped air while the taperless head enables front-loading replacement. Essential for deep-bore molds in 24/7 production.
High-Temp Resin Quick Maintenance
Pain point: Engineering resins at 300°C+ cause accelerated pin wear from gas corrosion — requiring more frequent replacements. But tapered gas release pins make each replacement a lengthy procedure.
Why it fits: Taperless gas release design cuts replacement time by 80% while maintaining full venting capability. SKD61 material extends intervals between replacements.
