Engraving Type Selection
Two engraving methods produce opposite marking effects on the molded part:

Is Core Pin Engraving the Right Approach?
Engraving on the core pin creates a marking on the molded part. But it's not the only way to mark parts:

- The marking location corresponds to an internal feature formed by a core pin
- Marking must be permanent and molded-in — not post-process pad printing or labeling

About Engraved Core Pins
Regulatory requirements often mandate date codes, cavity identification numbers, or recycling symbols on every molded part. Engraved core pins eliminate post-mold laser engraving or pad printing entirely — the characters are machined into the pin tip so every part emerges with the marking already formed.
When the date changes, only the pin is swapped — a 2-minute operation that does not require mold disassembly. Many customers maintain a rotating set of engraved pins for weekly or monthly date changeover.
Two engraving types are available: Concave engraving cuts into the pin tip, producing raised characters on the molded part. Convex engraving creates raised characters on the pin, producing recessed characters on the part. The choice depends on whether the marking should be proud of or flush with the part surface.
