Sprue stringing occurs when a thin filament of resin stretches between the nozzle and sprue during mold opening. Causes: nozzle temperature too high, insufficient suck-back, resin with high melt elasticity (PA, TPU, PET). Prevention: use string eliminator sprue bushings, install string prevention caps, increase suck-back distance, or lower nozzle temperature.
Do I need a guide bushing if my sprue bushing is bolt-fixed?+
Guide bushings center the sprue bushing within the mold plate bore, eliminating radial play. They're recommended when the bore has clearance. Less critical for tight-tolerance bores but always recommended for production molds.
