Troubleshooting Flowchart

Step 1: Verify Power

For proximity sensors: check supply voltage (10-30V DC). For mechanical switches: check wiring continuity with a multimeter.

Step 2: Check Alignment

Verify the trigger point is within the detection range. Mechanical: actuator must contact plate within 2 mm of home. Proximity: sensing face must be within 60% of rated distance.

Step 3: Clean Surfaces

Mechanical: clean electrical contacts with contact cleaner. Proximity: clean sensing face with non-metallic tool — steel chips on the face cause false positives.

Step 4: Verify Wiring Type

Proximity sensors: NPN (sinking) and PNP (sourcing) are NOT interchangeable. Check your machine controller input specification. Most Asian machines use NPN; European machines use PNP.
