Swivel Lifting Eye Bolts

Standard (non-swivel) eye bolts are designed for vertical loads only. When a sling pulls at an angle — which is unavoidable when lifting asymmetric molds or using multiple sling legs — the bolt shank experiences bending stress it was not designed for. This can cause sudden bolt fracture without warning.

Swivel eye bolts (SLEB type) solve this with a rotating head that self-aligns with the sling direction, converting angular loads into pure tensile loads on the bolt shank. This is critical for injection molds because:

• Mold centers of gravity are rarely at the geometric center
• Two-point sling lifts always create angular loads
• Dynamic forces during crane movement add lateral loads
