Lifting Bars for Mold

Heavy-duty lifting bars designed for secure crane handling of two-plate and three-plate injection molds. The bar spans the mold width and clamps all plates together, preventing plate separation during crane transport.

Two-Plate vs Three-Plate Lifting Bar Selection

Separation RiskLow (2 plates self-close under gravity)High (runner plate can separate and fall)
Bar ConfigurationSingle bar across parting lineBar must clamp all 3 plates together
Clamp Travel RequiredEqual to mold height (2 plates)Greater clamp travel (3 plates stacked)
Safety PriorityStandardCritical (falling runner plate = severe hazard)

Safety rule: Three-plate molds must always be transported with all plates locked together using a lifting bar. Never rely on gravity or friction to keep plates in contact during crane movement.

Application Scenarios

Mold Change on Production Floor

Pain point: Quick mold changes require safe, fast transport between the storage area and the injection molding machine.

Why it fits: Lifting bars with quick-clamp mechanisms allow operators to secure and release the mold in under 30 seconds, reducing changeover time while maintaining safety.

Recommended: Lifting Bar matched to mold width and weight class

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I select the correct lifting bar size?+
Measure the mold width (distance between the outermost bolt holes on the top plate) and the total mold height (all plates stacked). The lifting bar must span the full width and have enough clamp travel to lock all plates together. Weight capacity: select a bar rated for at least 1.5x the total mold weight.
Can I fabricate my own lifting bar?+
Custom lifting bars can be fabricated if designed by a qualified engineer and proof-load tested to 2x SWL. However, commercially available lifting bars come pre-tested and certified, eliminating liability risk. For production use, commercial bars are strongly recommended.
Do lifting bars need certification?+
Yes. Per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.179 and EN 1677, lifting accessories used for crane operations must be rated, marked with SWL, and periodically inspected. Our lifting bars come with a rated SWL marking and are manufactured to applicable standards.
