Two Different Jobs, One Mold
Leader components and ejector space components are both found inside the same mold, but they serve fundamentally different purposes:
Leader Components = Mold Alignment
Leader pins and leader bushings ensure the core half and cavity half of the mold align precisely during every close cycle. They operate in the parting line region, between the A-side and B-side plates. Their precision directly affects part quality: flash, wall thickness, and dimensional accuracy.
Ejector Space Components = Ejection Management
Ejector space components operate inside the ejector housing — the cavity between the support plate and clamping plate. They manage the ejector plate's travel (stroke collars, stopper rings), spacing (spacer rings), force transfer (ejector rods), and environmental protection (covers). Their function affects ejection reliability, not part geometry.
