Stepped Free Flange-Position Ejector Pins
Stepped diameter ejector pins with adjustable flange position ?combining multi-level ejection with plate flexibility. 2 product series.
Products (2 Series)

Stepped Free Flange ?M2 Steel
Adjustable head, one-step diameter transition.
About
Combines the stepped geometry (for multi-diameter cavities) with the adjustable flange feature (for non-standard plates). The flange position does not interfere with the stepped diameter transition ?the adjustment range is on the shaft section only.
Application Scenarios
Retrofit Stepped Ejection
Adding stepped ejection to a modified mold with changed plate dimensions.
Why it fits: Adjustable flange accommodates the new plate stack-up without re-machining.
Recommended: M2, configurable head and shaft diameters
Frequently Asked Questions
Can stepped free-flange pins replace standard stepped pins in existing molds?+
Yes, with one modification: the ejector plate counterbore must be enlarged or re-machined to accept the free-flange collar diameter, which is typically 2–3mm larger than a standard fixed-head stepped pin. The shaft and tip dimensions are identical to standard stepped pins, so the cavity-side fit is unchanged. The advantage of retrofitting is that multiple pin lengths can be accommodated by a single free-flange pin — reducing inventory requirements. However, the per-pin cost is approximately 40–60% higher than standard fixed-head stepped pins, so the retrofit only makes economic sense for molds requiring frequent length adjustments.
What is the tolerance on the stepped section for free-flange pins?+
The stepped section (tip diameter) maintains the same tolerance as standard stepped ejector pins: h6 (±0.008mm for ø1–ø6, ±0.009mm for ø6–ø16) for standard grade, and h5 (±0.005mm) for precision grade. The shaft-to-tip concentricity is held within TIR 0.01mm, identical to fixed-head stepped pins. The free-flange mechanism does not affect the tip/shaft precision because the flange is a separate component clamped to the shaft — the shaft and tip are machined as a single piece with the same process as standard stepped pins.
What is the minimum order for stepped free-flange?+
MOQ is 1 piece for all standard catalog configurations, including configurable-length series. Stepped free-flange pins are available in M2 steel (SKH51) with head T=4mm JIS standard. Configurable parameters include tip diameter (ø1.5–ø10mm), shaft diameter (ø3–ø16mm), and overall length (50–250mm in 0.5mm increments). Lead time for MOQ-1 standard items is 3–5 business days. Volume pricing begins at 10+ pieces with 5–10% discount.
