Three Functions in One System

A complete quick-change mould system integrates three functions that are traditionally separate and sequential: locating (positioning the mold on the platen), clamping (securing it), and ejector coupling (connecting the ejector system). Combining these into a single standardized system is what enables sub-10-minute changeovers.

Precision Locating

The locating function uses a standardized centering ring that mates with a machined pocket on the machine platen. This provides:

  • Repeatability: ±0.02 mm positional accuracy every changeover — no test shots needed to verify alignment
  • Self-centering: Tapered surfaces guide the mold into position during crane lowering
  • Standard interface: The centering ring dimensions are standardized, ensuring any compliant mold fits any compliant machine

Toggle Clamping

Toggle clamps replace individual bolts with a mechanical linkage that locks at over-center:

  • Simultaneous operation: All 4 clamp points lock in a single pneumatic stroke (<5 seconds)
  • Self-locking: The toggle mechanism holds clamping force mechanically — no continuous pneumatic pressure required
  • Consistent force: Every clamping cycle applies identical force, preventing the mold plate warping caused by uneven manual bolt tightening

Integrated Ejector Coupling (K3/K4 Only)

The K3 and K4 systems include an automatic ejector coupling that connects during mold insertion and disconnects during removal — no manual intervention required.

  • K3 (compact format): Fixed 156×196 mm footprint for small to medium molds
  • K4 (variable format): Adjustable dimensions for large or non-standard molds
  • Time savings: Eliminates the 15-20 minutes typically spent on manual ejector rod connection and alignment

System Selection Guide

  • K1 (compact, no ejector): Small-medium molds, ≤3 changeovers/shift. Standardized footprint.
  • K2 (variable, no ejector): Large/non-standard molds, ≤3 changeovers/shift.
  • K3 (compact + ejector): Small-medium molds, >3 changeovers/shift. Maximum time savings.
  • K4 (variable + ejector): Large molds, >3 changeovers/shift. Full system changeover.
  • K5 (standard insert): Budget option for low-frequency changeovers. Basic quick-change capability.
