Application: When to Use Rectangular Ejector Pins

Narrow Rib Ejection

Ribs with width < 3 mm cannot accommodate round ejector pins. Rectangular pins match the rib cross-section for distributed ejection force without marks.

Blade geometry distributes ejection pressure across the full rib face, preventing the point-load whitening that round pins cause on thin ribs.

Recommended: M2 JIS Head — standard or configurable width

Deep Slot Ejection

Slots deeper than 5× width create high friction during ejection. Blade pins enter the slot and push from the full slot surface area.

The blade tip engages the full slot bottom surface, preventing the ejection-side drag marks that occur when round pins push asymmetrically on slot features.

Textured Surface Ejection

Textured ribs grip the mold during ejection. R-chamfered blades reduce stress concentration at blade edges, preventing part damage on textured surfaces.

The R-chamfer eliminates the sharp blade-edge-to-part contact that causes micro-cracking on textured or semi-crystalline parts during ejection.

What is the maximum blade width and thickness available for large mold rectangular ejector pins?+
Standard catalog covers blade widths from 1.2 mm to 16 mm and thicknesses from 0.8 mm to 10 mm. Configurable series allow custom width × thickness combinations in 0.1 mm increments for non-standard rib geometries. For blades exceeding catalog dimensions, contact engineering for custom quotation — we regularly produce oversize blades up to 25 mm width for automotive bumper molds.
M2 or H13 — which material is better for rectangular ejector pins in glass-filled resins?+
H13 nitrided is significantly better for glass-filled resins (PA-GF, PBT-GF, PPS-GF). Glass fibers are highly abrasive, and the nitrided surface layer (900–1,100 HV) provides 3–5× the wear resistance of through-hardened M2 steel (60–62 HRC ≈ 750 HV). M2 is the better choice for unfilled resins where higher core hardness aids against mechanical deflection in long, thin blades. As a rule of thumb: if your resin datasheet lists glass fiber content ≥ 15%, choose H13 nitrided.
What is the difference between JIS head and 8mm head rectangular ejector pins?+
JIS head height varies by blade cross-section size, typically ranging from 3 to 5 mm depending on blade width. The 8mm fixed-height head provides consistent structural support regardless of blade size, which simplifies ejector plate pocket machining to a single depth dimension. Use 8mm head for pins longer than 200 mm where the bending moment at the head is significant, or when standardizing pocket depths across multiple pin sizes in the same mold. JIS head is the default for shorter pins and lighter ejection loads.
