Slide Cores

Standardized slide cores made of P21 steel for forming undercuts.

Slide Design Principles

Slide cores handle exterior undercuts. Their design requires balancing cooling, rigidity, and smooth kinematics to prevent flash and dimensional defects.

Length-to-Width Ratio (L:W)

To prevent tilting and binding during actuation, a slide core must maintain a length-to-width ratio of at least 1.5:1 inside the guide rails. If the slide is too short relative to its width, the actuation force from the angled pin will cause it to rack, leading to immediate galling of the rails.

Cooling Circuit Integration

Slides operating at high cycle times must be actively cooled. Because the slide moves, cooling channels require specialized fittings (such as telescopic tubes or heavy-duty flexible hoses). The water lines should be kept at least 10mm away from the sliding surfaces to prevent thermal contraction from altering clearances.

Application Scenarios

🚗

Automotive Bumper Fascias

Requires massive slide cores (over 50kg) to mold exterior clip features. Must withstand extreme injection pressures without deflection.

Recommended:Large Custom Steel Slide Cores with T-Rails
📱

Consumer Electronics Shells

Multiple small exterior undercuts for USB ports and buttons. Requires compact, fast-actuating slides.

Recommended:Pre-Hardened Compact Slide Cores
Design Rule: For slides wider than 150mm, use two angled pins to distribute the pulling force evenly and prevent crabbing.
