Angled Cams

Cam Motion Principles

Unlike standard angled pins, angled cams provide rigid, direct-force translation without the bending moments that plague long slender pins.

Direct Force Transmission

Angled cams utilize a sliding wedge surface rather than a cylindrical pin. This spreads the mold opening force over a flat, hardened surface (usually nitrided H13 or equivalent), allowing for much higher load transfer. This is critical when breaking vacuum seals on large undercuts or pulling large cores.

Delay Stroke (Dwell)

A major advantage of cam units is the ability to engineer a "delay stroke." The cam profile can include a straight vertical section before the angle begins. This allows the mold to open a few millimeters (venting pressure) before the slide actually begins to retract, protecting the molded part from scuffing.
